We have 8 leather dog harnesses in two models: the Step-In Pico harness, for small dogs, and the Y harness, with a ring on the chest. They are made from soft cowhide, padded, with solid brass rings. A harness moves the pull from the neck to the chest and shoulders, and you choose the size from the chest measurement.

How to measure the chest and choose a harness size

Your dog stands up. Run the tape around the chest at its widest point, right behind the front legs, snug against the skin. Look up that number in the harness's size table. Weight is only a rough guide. The step-by-step tables are in the size guide.

The tables are separate: Pico goes by numbers, from 1 to 5, for chests of 33–70 cm, while the Y harness comes in size M, for chests of 54–76 cm.

Step-In Pico or Y harness

  • Step-In Pico: your dog steps into the harness with the front paws and you close the buckle on the back. It has a wide chest panel, rounded edges and continuous adjustment. We have it in Sand, Dark Moss, Sky, Chili and Amber; Sky comes in sizes 1–4, Chili and Amber only in 1 and 2.
  • Y harness: it spreads the pull across the chest and back. The chest ring helps with anti-pulling training, and the two D rings on the back take a single or double leash. It has four continuously adjustable points and dense foam padding. We have it in Dark Moss, Earth and Sand.

Harness or collar

A collar stays on all the time and carries the tag or the AirTag holder. The harness goes on for the walk, and the leash clips to the harness. If your dog has neck, eye or breathing problems, ask a vet first. Choose the collar and the leash in the same colours.

Caring for leather harnesses

Wipe the leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth, and use a gentle leather cleaner for tougher stains. Now and then, feed it with leather balm and protect it with a waterproofing spray made for leather. Let the harness dry at room temperature, away from sun and radiators.

Frequently asked questions

Which harness for a small dog?

The Step-In Pico harness. Measure the chest and find the number in the table, from size 1 to 5.

Which harness fits a dachshund or a French bulldog?

Pico, with its continuous adjustment. The size still comes from the measured chest, not the breed.

Is the Y harness good for dogs that pull?

Yes. It spreads the pull across the chest and back, and the chest ring is used for anti-pulling training. Loose-leash walking is learned through training.

Can my dog wear the collar and the harness together?

Yes. The collar stays on with the tag or the AirTag holder, and for the walk the leash clips to the harness.

Can I wash a leather harness?

Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth. It is not for the washing machine, and it should not be soaked. After rain, let it air dry at room temperature.
